| Welcome
to the web site of the Past Pupils Association
of St. Josephs College Freshford Co Kilkenny.
Introduction
The Past Pupils Association was formally launched
at Freshford House, Kilkenny City on 28th March,
2003. The founding members had spent the previous
months putting together a structure for the
association, the creation of this website and
the initial contacts with past pupils through
press advertising and informal personal contacts.
Over a hundred former students attended the
launch which was very rewarding for the unselfish
and time consuming efforts of the organising
committee.
Encouraged
by this first assembly of Freshfordians, the
PPA executive went on to organise a very successful
golf outing in June at Portlaoise Golf Club,
followed by the inaugural Reunion Dinner in
November at the Newpark Hotel Kilkenny. In the
space of less than one year, what might have
been only an aspiration for many became a wonderful
reality. We can all now contribute to the further
development of the aim and activities of the
Past Pupils Association.
Aims
of the Association
The aims of the Past Pupils Association are
• to establish contact with students who
attended Freshford
• to assist and support each other in
our personal and professional lives
• in particular to assist and support
our former classmates and colleagues who have
continued to live and work to the spirit and
reality of our Freshford calling – Amare
et Servire ..to love and to serve.
It
is hoped that, irrespective of where we find
ourselves in terms of work and family life,
that we can work together to help our missionary
colleagues and friends to help them to fulfil
their mission in the support of others. We can
do this in a practical way by helping them implement
some of their projects and by interacting with
them socially when they come home, thereby providing
a sense of family and togetherness into the
future.
Mission
Statement
We value the awareness of our need for one another
and our desire to retain the memory and the
spirit of our youthful calling in the service
of others and endeavour to acknowledge in a
practical way the positive contribution of our
Freshford Alma Mater to our personal and professional
lives.
